Jeanette “Janice” Hale

Jeanette “Janice” Hale passed peacefully, Tuesday June 13, 2023, in Roanoke, Va. At the age of 83. She was born, January 23, 1940, in Pulaski Va. The seventh of seven children born to James and Bessie Stith.

Jeanette attended high school at the Christiansburg Institute in Christiansburg, VA and went onto earn a degree from Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va. Her professional career carried her to Saint Barnabas Hospital in Newark, NJ where she worked as a surgical nurse. Upon leaving the nursing profession, she embarked upon a career in sales until her retirement.

In addition to her parents, James and Bessie Stith, she was preceded in death by brothers, James Odell Stith, Ira Stith, and Robert Stith; sisters, Helen Kirkland and Elizabeth Carter.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children Andrea “Pinto” Hammond (Daniel), Jai “Jai Bird” Hale-Thompson; sister, Bonnie Hash; grandchildren, Gavin Hale (Sara), Caitlin Hammond, and Casey Hammond; great-grandchildren, Dallen Hale, Allora Hale, Gianna Hale; prior companion and loyal friend J. Walter Hale; and a host of nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside service, 1:00 p.., Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Pinehurst Cemetery, Pulaski, VA, Elder Marc Washington, Presiding.
