In Loving Memory of John Milford Jett

John Milford Jett was educated in Knox County Schools and was a dedicated, hardworking, and loving man whose life touched many. He devoted 25 years of his life to working as a laborer before retiring and beginning a new chapter filled with adventure, music, and the things he enjoyed most.

In his younger years, John was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church. Later in life, he joined Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in various capacities and became a cherished member of the church family.

After retirement, John fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in Las Vegas, Nevada. He called Las Vegas home for more than 20 years before recently returning to his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. John loved the excitement and energy of Las Vegas and especially enjoyed spending time around the casinos.

Music was one of John's greatest passions. He was a talented musician and an avid guitar player who found great joy in performing. While living in Las Vegas, he was a member of the musical group "Never Too Late," where he enjoyed performing at various venues throughout the Las Vegas area.

John was also a devoted sports fan. He proudly supported the Tennessee Titans and Tennessee Volunteers and was fortunate to attend several games throughout the years. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and sharing those memorable experiences with family and friends.

Above all, John will be remembered for his compassionate heart and the love, generosity, and kindness he showed to his family and friends. He had a warm spirit, a passion for life, and a wonderful ability to create lasting memories with those around him. His love of music, sports, adventure, and family was a special part of who he was.

John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Wallace Jett and Naomi Elizabeth Jett; his sister, Lila Jett; his brothers, Grandville Jett and Edward Jett; and his niece, Carolyn Jett Love.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted sister, Evelyn Jett Minor, who lovingly cared for him following his return to Knoxville; his sons, Shawn White and Chaka Jett, of Knoxville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews residing in Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma, and California; and many relatives in North Carolina.

The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of RainForest Landings Senior Living Community for the care, kindness, and support they provided to John.

John Milford Jett leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, music, friendship, and cherished memories. His life was filled with experiences that reflected his adventurous spirit and his love for the people around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Jarnigan & Son Chapel, located at 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914 with a service to immediately follow.

Final arrangements entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
