David Eugene Goins, affectionately known as “Fluttie” entered into immortality on August 12, 2025. Fluttie entered into mortality on October 14, 1936 in Knoxville, TN born to the late E. L. Spears and Eva Goins. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, cousin and friend to many.
Fluttie attended Frederick Douglas School in Kingsport, TN he later went into the construction field. He attended Eternal Life Harvest under the leadership of the late Pastor James Davis. In his earlier years he enjoyed golfing, Fluttie loved traveling, cars, cooking, gambling, jewelry, and dressing to impress. His deepest affection was most evident in his love and adoration for his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
Flutie was preceded in death by his parents; Son, David “Little Fluttie Boatwright, Daughter, Deborah Thompkins, Granddaughter, LaToya Robinson, Grandsons, Akeem McDowell, Jonkelian Mathis & Justin Goins, and devoted cousins Patsy Swaggerty, Delisa “Lamb Killer” Hale, James Williams of Kingsport, TN.
He leaves behind his beloved wife; Carolyn Ann Goins, Daughters; Sherry of Purifies, Va, LaTethia, Yvonne, Davina, Arica, Angel, Regina, Joyce, Kivia, Kimeka (Marcus), Casey. Sons; David, Dion, Maurice, Manny, Prince, Willie B. & Xavier (Janine) all of Knoxville, TN. Devoted grandchildren; Kemisha, Caron, Anaijah, Kayla, Eunique, Miss, Sunshine, Tervell, K’Wane, Kay-Kay, Little Walt and a Host of other grandchildren too numerous to name. Sisters and Brother-in-law; Janice Smith, Elaine Boatwright, Evergene Glasper & William Smith. Devoted cousins; Jameka Holmes, Pastor Camille, Johnnie Mae, Minister Tish Hayes, Deaconess Angel Blye, & the Smith-Swafford families (Kingsport, TN) & Cousin Floyd Goins of Washington, DC Devoted fiends; Lil Robert Fisher, Gene Evans, Frank Hodge, Earl Gross, Bobby Taylor, Claude Davenport, Deon Russell, Pete Lollar (Greeneville, TN) Bonus Burlington Family, Shirley Harris, Dollie Thomas, Diane Foxx, Connie Miller, Angela Mobley, Red Wilkerson-Love, Hook Thomas, Grease Mobley & a host of other friends.
Fluttie was loved by many relatives and friends and will be deeply missed by all.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a service to immediately follow. Service will be at Fern Street Missionary Baptist Church, located at 121 Fern St, Knoxville, TN 37914. Johnnie Mae Swaggerty officiating.
