Charlotte Athea Dawkins

Charlotte Athea Dawkins, Peaceful slept away to her Heavenly Home, March 2, 2023, born December 14, 1947, in Knoxville, TN, to Porter and Fannie Dawkins. A resident of Lonsdale for many years growing up, and returned to graduate from Austin High School, Class of 1965.

Later went to Knoxville Business College. after finishing, she was hired at KUB in Business Administration. And there she worked for twenty-five years before retirement. Charlotte loved her family and was the youngest of seven girls. Her Church at Open Door was her home away from home. Loving her Church family and named Mother of the Church. She attended regularly until her health declined.

Preceded in death by, parents, and sisters, Noami Walker Johnson, Ellen Stevens, Margaret Taylor, Nancy Bennett Bowerman, and Carolyn Morgan Rucker; and several extended family members.

Left to cherish her memory are devoted loving sister, Joyce (William, Sr.) Burris, and niece/caregiver, Cynthia Taylor, a host of other relatives, church family and other friends. As well as faithful friend, Sister LeFlore, First Calvary attending noonday Bible Study together.

Family will receive friends, 12:00-12:30p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Open Door Church, 2806 Sherman Street; funeral service, 12:30 p.m., Pastor Steve Simpson, Officiating.

Interment Berry Highland South.
