Rosanna Forkland Gaines

Rosanna Forkland Gaines, age 71,

passed from this world into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on January 30, 2023. She was born on September 26, 1951 to Robert Forkland and Betty Bullard Allen, who preceded her in death, along with her husband, Dennis Gaines, grandmothers Dessie Forkland and Rosa O’Neal; daughter Michelle “Nikki” Favors-Wilson; son, Brandon Darden; sisters Robyn Darden, Joyce Woodard, Cheryl Bobbit; brother, James Woodfin, II, niece Helena Darden and aunt, Jackie Riddle.

Rosanna was baptized in 1964 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. John Paul Jones, Sr. She was a faithful and dedicated member, especially being a dedicated van driver for all ministries in the church. She was also a faithful member of various choirs and the Solid Rock of Wisdom Ministry. She served as administrative assistant for thirty plus years until her health declined. Rosanna had a heart for helping people and a love for the Children’s ministry.

Rosanna is survived by her loving son-in-law and devoted care giver, Calvin Wilson, Jr.; sister, Kim Whittle; aunt, Georgianna Axel (Jefferson); uncles: Howard (Brigette) Bullard, Robert (Mary) Bullard, and Larry Woodfin. Grandchildren: Tyjah, Tyrone and Tyreke Partridge, Caleigh and Calvin Wilson III and Brianna Headspeth; great-grandchildren: Bre’el Headspeth, Calvin Wilson IV, along with a host of other relatives and devoted friends to include the Wynn and Johnson families, including the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 7th beginning at 10:30 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2137 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Vincent Jones, Jr., eulogist. Interment will be at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (Lyons View Pike).
