Regena Ann Taylor Minter slept away peacefully at home Saturday June 14, 2025 after a lengthy illness. Regena was born June 1, 1947 to the late Robert E. and Bertha (Wright) Taylor. Regena was a life long member of Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church where she confessed her life to Christ at twelve years old.
Regena is a graduate of Austin High School, class of “65.” Regena was united in holy matrimony to Robert L. Minter Jr., June 23, 1973. To this union a son was born, Robert L. Minter, III. Regena worked for Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC) and retired after thirty years of service.
Regena was very faithful to her Church and served in many capacities. She was a member of the Bud of Promise, a Sunday School Teacher, Junior Usher, and a member of the Clinton Chapel Senior Choir, the Agape Ensemble, she served as a member of the Bettyelee Alleyne Circle, a steward board member, and a Knoxville District officer of the “Y’s” Department of the WH & OMS (Women’s Home & Overseas Missionary Society). Regena was a talented soloist and a member of the Aaron Staples Community Choir and the United Fellowship Mass Choir. Regena’s signature song was “Never Alone.”
Preceded in death by parents, brother, Robert E. Taylor III (BaBa); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert Lee Minter Sr. and Mildred Minter; sister-in-law, Lillie Garner; and brother-in-law, Casey Jones.
Left to cherish her memory husband, Robert Lee Minter Jr.; son, Robert L. Minter III; sisters, Rev. Nancy Reid, Brenda Page, and Sherrie Taylor all of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Annie Jones of Knoxville, TN, Irma James of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law, Wilbert (Carolyn) Minter of Sparta, GA, James Minter of Knoxville, TN, Jerry Garner of Neptune, NJ, and Myron McMullen, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends to include special friends, Larking, Sylvia Banks,, and Sheila Phillips.
Family will receive friends Monday June 23, 2025 from 1 to 2pm at Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church, 546 College St, Knoxville, TN 37921, with funeral services to follow. Rev. Dr. John A. Butler, Officiating. Interment June 24, 2025 at 10am at East Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
