James Lomax Jr.

James Robert Lomax Jr., age 73, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed on into eternal sleep on July 25, 2026. Born on November 5, 1952, James was the third of eight children born to James Robert Lomax Sr. and Mildred Lee Lomax. 

He was preceded by his parents; his sisters, Bobbie Jean Lomax and Gloria Ann Lomax; and his nephew, William Douglas Lomax Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers; Charles F. Lomax Sr., William D. Lomax Sr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joe M. Lomax (Kamie) of Douglasville, Georgia, and Paul S. Lomax (Debbie); his sister, Robin M. Lomax; and his aunt, Elsie M. Jones of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, 28 great-nieces and nephews, 13 great-great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

James was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he was affectionately known by family and friends as "Peter" or "Uncle Pete." He graduated from Austin-East High School with the Class of 1971. Following high school, James began his career at WBIR Channel 10, where he worked until 1989. After leaving WBIR, he continued his strong work ethic at Target for many years before joining Jewelry Television (JTV). He remained with JTV until his retirement in 2018. 

James was known for his kind and gentle spirit, his love of technology, and his enjoyment of movies, especially Star Trek, Star Wars, and Superman. James enjoyed transferring his love for these movies to the next generation of the Lomax family.  He was dedicated to his work, devoted to his family, and always appreciated spending time with those he loved. His warmth, quiet strength, and generous heart will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

 James will be remembered with love, gratitude, and affection. His life was a blessing to those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished always.
