Delzia Louise Johnson, age 78, of Knoxville, TN, was called home on April 8, 2026. Delzia was born and raised in Knoxville and a longstanding member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church. She worked for many years at Robertshaw Controls Company.

Delzia was always the life of the party. She never met a stranger and if she loved you, she would give you the shirt off her back. Delzia was funny, intelligent, outspoken, sassy, and at times, downright stubborn.

Delzia was preceded in death by her son, James Christopher Johnson and is survived by her son, James Henry Johnson, Jr; her three grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Johnson, Tanisha LeShay Johnson, and Christopher Malik Johnson; nieces, Loretta Bell and Melissa Green; honorary daughter-in-law Melisa Russell; honorary grandson, James Earnest Brown IV, and an eclectic host of friends.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

'THE BEST'

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come to Me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away,

And although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

The family will receive friends from  2:30 – 3:00pm on Sunday, April 26th, 2026, at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, located at 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37914 with a Celebration of Life service to follow.
