William McGhee

William  Luther McGhee was born on November 16,1957, in Athens, Tennessee to William and Mary Elizabeth McGhee. He attended Athens City Schools and McMinn County High School.

As a young adult, Luther proudly served his country in both the Armed Forces and the National Guard. He was a skilled brick mason and a true jack of all trades when it came to building and repairing things. There was very little Luther couldn’t fix. Whether it was working on a building ,repairing a car, or tackling just about any project, he had a natural talent for figuring things out and getting the job done. His ability to work with his hands and his willingness to help others made him someone people could depend on.

Luther was a man of few words who enjoyed his solitude and was comfortable in his own company. He was known to walk just about anywhere, never letting the distance stand in his way. Luther lived life on his own terms, leaving behind memories that those who knew and loved him will cherish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Elizabeth McGhee; daughter, Keisha Ann McBee; sister, Laura Elizabeth (Charles) Thomas; uncle, Quinten McGhee; niece and nephew, Frances and Bruce Witt.

He leaves to cherish his memory brothers, James and George McGhee; grandson, Curtis Parks Jr; nieces and nephews, Sherri (Travane) Ebanks, Richard (Treasure) Witt, Valerie McDaniel, Isaac, Sha’Da and La’Tishia McGhee, and Charles Thomas Jr; devoted friend Leroy Jones along with many other grand nieces and nephews, cousins and loved ones.

Rest in quiet peace, Uncle Luther. Your calm presence and silent strength will be deeply missed. You may have been a man who stayed to yourself, but your presence will always hold a special place in our hearts. You will forever be remembered and loved.

Love always,

Sha’Da, La’Tishia and your great-nieces and great-nephews.
