Willette Satterfield

Willette Carr Satterfield 70, passed peacefully and unexpectedly on September 29, 2024.


Willette was an accomplished woman, having done her undergraduate work at Knoxville College and earning a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. She applied her learnings in her long and successful career as a social worker for the state of Tennessee. Willette was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.


She was a warrior in the face of the multiple sclerosis that significantly impacted her in midlife. Her determination to live a full life was undiminished by the challenges imposed by the disease and was awe-inspiring.


Willette was exceedingly loving, thoughtful, kind, and gracious. She was uncompromisingly committed to ensuring that her family and friends knew that she cared and that they were deeply loved.


Willette will forever be greatly missed.


She is survived by her husband, Eugene Satterfield, Sr.; son, Malcolm Satterfield; mother, Mary Carr; sister, Brenda Carr, M.D.; brother, Jeffery Carr (Stephanie); cousin, Lisa Loesch (Jeffrey); stepson, Eugene Satterfield, Jr. (Cam); and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Carr, Jr. and her aunt, Earline McClain (Herman).


Family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2024 from to 2:00pm to 2:30pm at Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church, 2084 Dandridge Ave, Knoxville, TN 37915, with Celebration of Life services to follow.


Final arrangements entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church, in the name of “Willette Satterfield.”

Rest well Willette my classmate we arrived at Knoxville College in 1972 as freshman.
