Rodgers, Truman Nathaniel - age 76, transitioned from labor to reward in his heavenly home 8/16/2025 at UT Medical Center. 


 Truman graduated from Fulton High School, class of 1967. He went on to further his education at Tennessee State University until he was drafted by the Army in 1969. He served his country for 2 years and upon returning home, he had been promoted to Seargent. He met the love of his life in spring of 1976, Gloria Gene Williams. They married and was together 49 years.  Truman loved animals and at a young age, his passion led him to work for Dr. Senter at Broadway Veterinary Clinic for over 10 years. After many different jobs, he later worked for Dr. Crawford at Magnolia Veterinary Clinic, and later went back to Broadway Veterinary Clinic for Dr. Jonathan James and Dr. Williams as a veterinarian assistant for over 20 years.


Truman is preceded in death by: parents, Zack Sr. and Willie Mae Harris Rodgers; stepmother, Alma Rodgers; mother-in-law and birthday buddy, Ida Belle Flack Williams; son in law, Adrian Hill; siblings, Vivian Geraldine Rodgers Colbert, William Rodgers, Willie Jean Rodgers Wagoner, Sherman Paul Rodgers Sr., and Louella Rodgers Crump; sister-in-law, Maudie M. Williams Duarte; brothers-in-laws, Rodney Williams, James (Jimmy) Williams, Gino Guillermo, Murrill G. Williams, Emeral Leon Flack; niece, Janice (Minnie) Matthews; and nephew, Curtis Rodgers.


He leaves to carry on his legacy: devoted wife, Gloria Gene Williams-Rodgers; children, Sabrinia Hill, Cilvolya (Maurice) Sligh-Williams, and Doris Williams-Rodgers; grandchildren, Monica Foster of Johnson City, TN, Cameron Williams, and Adam Hill; uncle, Bishop Zack S. (Ann Helen) Flack) Sr, nephews, Terry (Janet) Wagoner, Richard (Sandra) Wagoner, Victor (Yolanda) Rodgers, Lavon (Dawn) Crump, Wayne (Charlene) Price of Worcester, MA, Warren Eugene (Tasha) Rafiel, Murrill Gene (Heather) Flack, Jordan (Marissa) Williams, Brandon (Katrina) Williams, Josh Bogus; devoted nephews, Marvin (Tracey) Wagoner, Sherman Paul (Marsha) Rodgers Jr., Steve (Amanda) Rodgers, and Kevin Flack; nieces, Tonya Emory, Ida K. “Krissy” Price of Redondo Beach, CA, Hera Guillermo of Honolulu, HI; devoted niece, Deborah Wagoner; sisters-in-laws, Emeral Price of Redondo Beach, CA, Gail Williams of Knoxville, TN, Vanessa “Dollie” (Brian) Quarles of Nashville, TN, Sandra Flack, Knoxville, TN, and Roxy V of Knoxville, TN; brother in laws, Boyd (Emma) Williams, Anthony (Pam) Flack, and David Duarte; best friend and godparents to his Daughters, Carl (Doris) Bourne; special cousins, Adrianette Bell, Trouble, and Rosa Ann Flack (Coconut McGillicuddy); devoted cousins, Victor (Ernestine) Harris, and Eunice Harris; former coworkers, James Thorape, Kevin Lane, Dr. Jennifer James, and the rest of the Broadway Veterinary Clinic staff; and a host of other family and friends too numerous to name. 


Family visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 5:30 to 6:30 at Jarnigan’s Chapel, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Knoxville, TN 37914.   Funeral services will be held, Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 2pm, at Goode’s Temple AME Zion Church, 476 Old Dandridge Pike, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871 Thursday, 2:00pm, August 28, 2025. Reverend Herbert Grant officiating. Private interment at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
