Rev. Michael Broadnax

Rev. Michael D. Broadnax, Sr. was born on August 13, 1957.  He entered the church triumphant on June 10, 2025 at his home in Franklin, TN. At the age of 18 Mike accepted his call to the gospel ministry.  He preached his initial sermon on July 11, 1976, at Pike Creek A.M.E. Church in Burgaw, NC.  The sermon was entitled, “First Things First.”  Mike was ordained itinerant deacon and elder by Bishop Howard Thomas Primm in 1978.  Mike’s ministerial career spanned 49 years, 36 of which were in the active pastorate. For 11 years (1993-2004) he was the proud pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Knoxville, TN.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. John T. and Mrs. Evon Broadnax.  He leaves to mourn and celebrate his life and legacy, his wife of 41 years, Charlotte Broadnax.  His legacy includes his daughters, Min. Yolanda (Chad) Walden of Kannapolis, NC, Gordonyale Johnson-Tulloch of Lexington, KY, Min. Michelle Broadnax of Franklin, TN and his son, Min. Michael (Min. Ashley) Broadnax, II of Lavergne, TN.  

Mike was a cherished grandfather to Dorian (Sadie) Galbreath, Anyla Galbreath, ShaDiamond Tulloch, Ja’Malachi Tulloch, Brooklynn Broadnax, Donathan Tulloch, Zaya Walden, & Jaylie Walker, and a loving great-grandfather to Luca Galbreath and Fonz Galbreath.  He is survived by his brother, Min. Timothy (Min. Carren) Broadnax, sister-in-laws, Donna Stallard, Yolanda Cooke, & Angela (Greco) Perry, nephews, Thomas (Judy) Stallard, Jr., Theo Stallard, & Brandon Wade, nieces, Sunshyne Perry, Thomiyah Stallard & Imani Broadnax, special extended family, Rev. James Owens, Rev. Charlene Boone & family, Rev. Donaldson Jones, Min. Lorraine Burnett & family, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rev. Broadnax’s Homegoing Celebration will be held on June 21, 2025 at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1300 South  Street,  Nashville, TN   37212.  Visitation: 11-12; Homegoing Celebration begins at 12 PM CST. Internment: Greenwood Cemetery North
