Mary Katherine Dixson Caldwell Thomas “Cat” gained her heavenly wings on May 14th, 2024, at Fort Sanders Hospital. Mary was the fifth child born to Julian Sr. and Mary Ella Dixson on September 5, 1941.
Mary was a fun and loving person who devoted her life to her family. She worked as a phlebotomist at Children’s Hospital until retirement. She was a faithful member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Mary will be remembered for her kind smile and will be forever held dearly in our hearts.
Preceded in death by parents Julian Sr. and Mary Ella Dixson; former husbands Robert L. Caldwell Sr and Mack W. Thomas; daughter Lisa D. Caldwell and , brothers; Robert Dixson Sr. and Julian Dixson Jr., sisters; Lillie Curd and Julia Rogers; and special grandson, G’Metrik Caldwell.
Left to cherish her memories: sons, Robert (Dreana) Caldwell Jr. and Gregory (Phyllis) Caldwell; daughters, Kathy (Frank) Minor-Donohoo and Ebony (Justin) Thomas; her 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother William Dixson; sisters, Helen Winton and Almazine (James) Williams; aunt Ella M. Fortson; and brother-in-law Raymond Curd. Along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church; funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Dr. Joseph B. Smith, eulogist and pastor.
Interment at New Gray Cemetery, Sunday, May 26th, 2024 following funeral services.
