Maria V. Luna 67, of Knoxville passed away on Sept 15th, 2025 peacefully at Turkey Creek Mefical Center. She was born on Dec 26, 1957 to the parents of Luis (Carmen) Luna Arizona.Â
Maria was in the US Army where she served her country for 10 years. She was awarded several decorations while serving , Army service ribbon, Army achievement medal, Overseas service ribbon, Humanitarian service medal, Army good conduct medal and Marksman *Rifle M16). She was proud of her accomplishments served.Â
She worked in the food industry at McDonald's in management for 30 years prior to retirement. She was a loving Aunt, cousin and seen by the Tate family children as an affectionate grandmother she was called (the extra granny). She was an avid traveler she has toured the world. She loved spending time with family cooking for them and being together. Her favorite dessert is banana pudding! She was full of smiles and would greet everyone with a hug.Â
She is survived by her Aunt Tia Armida Luna and the Luna family. Sister Elda Martinez, niece Dulcia and a Host of nephews and Devoted cousins Diana, Daniel, Neto and Lilly (Arizona) too many to mention but she loved them all. Devoted friend Kelley Tate and children she adored as her own Kerry Tate (Tiwanna)Â Dekeys Tate Sr (Jamija Henry Devoted friend), Imiya Tate her sweetest grand daughter they where best friends she taught Imiyah and Dekeys how to drive a car and her newest cherished addition Dekeys Tate Jr known as (Papito) he earned his own special name by her. Devoted friend Indiya Davis and Sandra Tate, Terry (Pete) Smith and sons Aben & Amaurie, Waverly(Gianni). Special thanks to Turkey Creek Medical Center staff nurses Shetara Weaver, Kristen Moon, Jessica Bissell , Jenna Moriawka and her ICU nurse Kaitlyn for the great care and compassion shown during her stay. Family will receive friends Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 2:30 to 3pm, at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Knoxville, TN 37914, with celebration of life services to follow. Interment Monday September 22, 2025 at East Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway Knoxville, TN 37920.Â
