Marcus Dwayne Thompson was born March 27, 1968 in Knoxville TN and departed this life on August 5, 2024 in Panama City Beach, Florida. He was the cherished son of Betty Hamilton Blackman and the late Lorenzo Thompson.
His passion was singing and his voice brought great joy to all who were privileged to hear him. Marc spent much of his life in the Washington DC, Maryland area. Marc loved education and was pursuing a PHD in Public Administration. He was what some would call a foodie and loved sharing locations of his favorite places to eat and recipes.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by great grandmother, Carrie Hamilton; aunt, Evelyn Hamilton Carter; step-father, Rev. Isiah Blackman; cousins, Carla Battle Crowe and Master Sgt. Charles Carter; and many beloved others.
He leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Betty Hamilton Blackman, sisters, Loretha Thompson, Lisa Nobles, Heather Thompson, Deidre Thompson, Rachel Moore, Nicola Hall; brother, Eric Thompson; aunts, Sylvia (Donald) Hemphill, Rosemary Armour, Virginia Nadine Williams, Mildred Osteen Bledsoe and Carolyn (Joe) Crutcher; a host of cousins to include, David (Valerie) Hamilton, Darryl Hamilton, Judy (Tom Young), Saundra and Douglas Hemphill, Yolanda (Lydell) Hammond, and the Perry, Lowery, Banks and George Families; along with numerous other cherished relatives and friends to include the Anthony and Sitgraves families (MD/VA) and Robert Carter (Atlanta, GA).
Family will receive friends, Wednesday August 14, 2024, from 2 to 3pm at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, with the Celebration of Life beginning at 3pm.

My brother Marcus you will be certainly missed and will every be in my heart. We didn’t spend much time together but we always got to talk on the phone when you called or when I called to check on you and mom.
