OBITUARY WRITTEN BY THE FAMILY:
Johnetta was an extraordinary woman who loved God and er family dearly. She was the beloved child of the late Dixie Williams and John Maxwell. She was born on May 18, 1947.
Johnetta was passionate about helping people. Once she graduated Austin High School in 1965, she put that degree to use at St. Mary's Hospital where she was a skilled, passionate nurse for over r40 years. She also helped at the local schools as their nurse.
Johnetta was a strong, independent woman who worked hard, which allowed her to have the things she wanted. This was wonderful for her, but this made it a difficult challenge to get her gifts. So if ever in doubt, you couldn't go wrong with Red Lobster or a Movie Theater gift card. Two of her favorite enjoyments. She also loved to entertain friends and family and play spades or poker. And watching movies (You should see her DVD/VHS collection).
Also, if you wasn't sure what to talk about with Johnetta, just mention "Mucktown" and she would remember back and talk for hours her home neighborhood.
Johnetta also loved serving the Lord serving and doing His work. She became a faithful member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church in August 2014. She helped serve the Lord by becoming a part of many areas of the Church. She devoted her time with sisters and friends, Bible study and feeding the Suzanne House. During her retirement (which she loved to brag about)...when asked about what her plans where..."Whatever I want, but it's not work!" She also brings the Noah's Ark and the senior luncheon in her golden age. But if you knew Johnetta, you knew that if you are riding together, the first or last stop had to be at McDonald's to get her a large diet coke with extra ice!
Johnetta had a sweet but firm soul. She will be dearly missed, but we are thankful that she is where she wanted to be and that is with our God.
Besides her parents, she was preceded by sisters Bernice Green and Gwendolyn Trundle
The loved ones still here to honor her legacy, are her nephews Kelvin Green of Indiana, Keith and Kristopher Green of Texas and Bryce Wynn of Tennessee.
Sisters; Kimberly Wynn of and Lee Wynn of Tennessee. Some of her best friends/ cousins; Sylvia Colvin and Evelyn Fortson.
Her 3 Godchildren; Nicole Banks, Joslyn Colvin and Ivy Reed. Amongst them, a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins. We want to give a special thanks to Sister Arlene Siler, Sister Bonnie Upton and Sister Lillian Dirl and Sister Charity King who helped out beloved Johnetta when she would allow someone to even help her (Ms. Independent remember).
This could go on and on about the wonderful and special memories we have about Johnetta, but this will end writing it down and just continue to honor her by laughing and smiling and remembering the good time with each other as time goes on. So you can be sad and mourn our loss for a little while, but rest assure, Johnetta had a wonderful, fulfilling life, who is now resting with her Heavenly Father.
