James M. Tate

James M. Tate, born December 4, 1950 at Knox General to the late James Whitson and Sallie Mae Tate. James departed this life, October 4, 2023.

James, employed as a Chef and Kitchen Manager at Chesapeake’s Restaurant for over forty years.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and football teams, U. T. Vols, Tennessee Titans and the Steelers.

Preceded in death by parents, sisters, Pearlie Mae Bassett, Nancy Ann Tate;

daughter, Yolonda Howell.

Survivors, daughters, Jamesana (Arnold) Tate, Latasha Tate and Jamelba (Parvin) Tate; son, Napoleon (Jerina) Moore; sisters, Christine Tate, Rhode Island, Jewell Whitson, Knoxville; nieces, Peaches Tate, Rhode Island, Shawus Whitson, and Tecola Tate; nephew, Orlando Tate; a host of grand and great grandchildren; a host of friends to include, devoted friend, Lorraine Mitchell.

Family will receive friends, 10:00-10:30 a.m, Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Jarnigan’s Chapel; funeral service, 10:30 a.m., Rev. Rev. Andrew Osakue, Officiating. Interment, Mount Olive Cemetery around him.
