Iyah Groce (Iyah G.), age 11, passed away leaving behind a legacy far greater than her years. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2025. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, LaToshia Groce, and her grandfather, Gregory Williamson, along with other beloved family members who all held special places in her life.
Iyah leaves to cherish her memory her mother, LaTrice Williamson; bonus father, Carlos Gray; and father, Trezell Groce; grandmother, Donna McGhee Williamson; siblings, Carlos and Anilah Gray, Ayri’ajah Groce, Amaud and Amaudjah Stinson, Amani Brinson, Trezell Jr., and Trezyon Groce; aunts, LaQuinta McGhee and Juannesha Cowan; uncles, Markeeze (April) Clark and Gregory “Chase” Williamson, God-Mother; Lindsey Smith and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends.
Iyah was a student at South Doyle Middle School, but her heart and deepest connections remained with her Lonsdale Elementary School family, where she was known and loved by many. She was a silly, joyful spirit—a true bundle of happiness—who never met a stranger. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence could brighten any room.
Iyah had big dreams and a creative soul. She was inspired to become a makeup artist and a clothing designer, expressing herself through style, color, and imagination. She also loved to swim and read, finding joy and comfort both in the water as well as the stories she read. Her beautiful smile, kind heart, and fearless friendliness will be deeply missed by her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her time here was far too short, the joy she shared will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
