Gerald Galloway was born on March 3, 1941 to Thomas and Bernice Galloway in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was the middle child of three children — one of his biggest gripes.
Gerald’s upper degrees were in chemistry from the University of North Carolina. Along the working road, he migrated into quality control, which at times, kept him traveling a lot in his early days.
Gerald loved cooking, tennis, bicycling, and bowling, and was very active for many years. He tried many hobbies over the years. Some of those hobbies were short lived and expensive. One of his favorite hobbies was photography and developing the photos he took. Most of these hobbies he did with gusto, as long as that lasted. In his later years, after retirement, he joined a gym and would go work out at 5:30 in the morning, five days a week. In the end, he developed Alzheimer disease, and like his nature, he fought that with the same gusto. He succumbed to the disease at home on October 25, 2024.
Family services were held at his request. Final arrangements entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
Gerald was a gentle man who could be really funny when he wanted to be. I have missed seeing him in the gym the last three years but have only good memories of my friend.
