Evelyn Joyce Hamilton Carter, age 81 was born January 8, 1942, and departed this life on Friday, September 16, 2023.

She was preceded in death by parents Lewie and Thelma Perry Hamilton; grandmother who raised her, Carrie Hamilton; daughter Carla Yvette Carter Battle Crowe; son Master Sgt. Charles Carter and legions of precious relatives.

Left to cherish Evelyn’s memory: sons David (Valerie) Hamilton and Darryl Hamilton; grandchildren LaKisha (Marricco) Summeour (Caregiver), Jasmine, Mariah, Charles, David, Daniel, Karie, Darrin, George, Femeika, Darryl, Lajon, Terrell, DeAyra; several adored great grandchildren; sisters Sylvia (Donald) Hemphill and Betty Blackman; cousins to include Betty Rose Lowery, the Perry Family, Norman George and many other beloved relatives and friends.

Evelyn was a valued and lifelong member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church East. She retired from Fort Sanders Hospital after over 50 years of service and treasured her memberships in the Austin High School Class of 1960, the Oldies But Goodies Social Club and Howard Circle of Friends.

Family will receive friends Monday, September 25th from 12 noon to 1 pm with service to follow at Mount Olive Baptist Church East, 1601 Dandridge Ave. Interment will follow at Berry Highland Memorial.
