Estelle Johnson

Estelle Johnson, age 94, departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

She was a devoted member, deaconess, and first lady at Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. She worked and loved her job as a “granny” at Fair Garden Elementary School. She also worked as a caregiver for many years. 

Estelle is preceded in death by a host of relatives including her parents, John and Thula Macon; husband, Rev. C.E. Johnson; children, Tommy Johnson, Randolph Johnson, and Venissa Garner; grandchildren, Ricosia Johnosn and Tony Taylor Jr.

Estelle leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Carl (Audrey) Johnson and Darryl Johnson; sister-n-law, Betty Johnson; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, special nieces, Louise Scruggs and Linda Davis; great niece, Audrea Armstrong, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Family will receive friends Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 546 College St, Knoxville, TN 37921, from 10 to 11 am, with funeral services to follow. Rev. Barbara Haigler officiating. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 3770. Final arrangements entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary. www.jarniganandson.com
