Eddie Crippen

Eddie Herman Crippen Sr., an alumnus of Austin High School, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born November 27, 1954 to the late Herman E. Martin Sr. and Nell Rose Martin


He was a dedicated employee of the Knox County School System from 1987 to 2010. In his 23 years with Knox County Schools, he was admired for his work ethic and professionalism.


He is preceded in death by his parents; aunts, Opha Betty Hall, Elizabeth Toms, and Dorothy Minor and Modestine (Peggy) Cunningham; uncles, Mitchell, RC, and Camel Toms, Clayton, Sam, Dotner, and William Martin; brothers Charles, Herman Jr., Calvin, Bart, and Brad, sisters Terri Sweatman and Angie Jones.


A heart of gold, a spirit of kindness, and a legacy of love; Eddie may be gone, but his impact on our lives will never fade.


With a generosity that knew no bounds and a heart that welcomed all, Eddie left an indelible mark on our community and in our hearts. Eddie was more than just a friend, colleague, or neighbor – he was a guardian angel, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a comforting word, or share his home and heart with those in need.


Though his battle with cancer may have ended, Eddie’s courageous spirit, unwavering optimism, and unshakeable faith will continue to inspire us all.


A one-of-a-kind treasure, Eddie enriched our lives with his kindness, generosity, and love. His legacy will live on through the countless hearts he touched and the memories we cherish.


Eddie may have left this earthly home, but his love, his laughter, and his unwavering commitment to helping others will remain with us forever.


With a life built on the principles of kindness, compassion, and generosity, Eddie showed us all what it means to truly live and to leave a lasting impact on the world around us.


Though we mourn the loss of this incredible man, we also celebrate his remarkable life, his tireless dedication to others, and the enduring legacy of love he leaves behind.


He leaves to cherish his memory beloved children Tabitha (Jamar) and Eddie Crippen Jr.; grandchildren Decoiso Clark, Jamar, Lamar, and Foreva Young; great-grandson Kaizion Clark; siblings Sylvia Murphy, Charlene Parton, Carol Crippen, James (Natalie) Crippen, Sam Martin, Alice Foust, Twin Sister Debbie (Franklin III) Young, Dwight Martin, Barbara Turner, and Curtis Cannon. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends to include Ada (Beth) Catron mother of children and lifelong partner and devoted nephews DeWayne Parton and Christopher Johnson.


Family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914, with funeral services to follow. Rev. Dr. Harold Middlebrook officiating. Interment at Mount Olive Cemetery. Final arrangements entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
