DaJhauna Nitreace Winton, affectionately known as “Woot,” was born on November 23, 1993, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to LaRaiel J. Winton and Kimberly A. Thompson. On October 3, 2025, DaJhauna peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
DaJhauna was the oldest of her parents’ children and a constant source of love, laughter, and light. Her bright smile, compassionate heart, and joyful spirit touched everyone blessed to know her. Though her time with us was far too short, her impact will last a lifetime.
She attended Austin-East High School and later pursued a career in dental care, working as a Registered Dental Assistant for four years. DaJhauna was dedicated to her work and took pride in helping others. Outside of her career, she enjoyed dancing, laughing, and spending time on the phone catching up with friends and family. Her vibrant energy could brighten even the darkest day.
DaJhauna was preceded in death by her grandparents Henry A. Funches and Bertha M. Thompson; great-grandparents Zeb and Anna Mae Sligh Sr.; and her aunt Bereatha H. Thompson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her beloved children: D’Mauriea Winton, Justin McDowell, Lyric Winton, and Harmony Jackson; Her devoted parents: Father LaRaiel J. Winton (Vonda), and Mother Kimberly A. Thompson (Jhonny). Her loving siblings: Keishun Winton, Priyanka Winton, Jy’Kashia Winton, Lauriel Winton, Breshya Geter, and Sambreea Anderson; Her brother: Jermaine Winton; Grandparents: Betty Sligh Winton and Herbert (Marry) Winton; Aunts: Shirley McKinney, Rosalind Sligh Martin, Sheneilia Jackson Boyles (Willis), Patricia Thompson, and Janine Thompson; Uncles: Trevor R. Sligh Sr., Orentho J. “OJ” Winton Sr., Zeb D. Sligh Jr., Sidney Jackson, Jefferey Jackson, Steven Thompson, and James Thompson; Nieces: Britain Winton, Noriyah Winton, Khalil Winton, Rilynn Thomas, Nelly Winton, and Jayona Winton; Nephews: Lzari, Javon, Braxtynn, and Ellie; And a host of cousins, relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
DaJhauna’s beautiful soul, laughter, and love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. Though she is gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts. Forever Loved, Forever Remembered.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Jarnigan & Son Chapel, located at 2823 Martin Luther King Jr Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37914 with a service to immediately follow.
