Cynthia Elder-Askew

Cynthia Denise Elder Askew, age 60 transitioned from our lives, Saturday, October 18, 2026. 

She was a graduate of Rule High School, class of 83’

Cynthia was a devoted wife, loving mother and a great grandmother. 

Her hobbies were cooking, dancing, listening to music & spending quality time with her family and friends. 

She was known by many as the life of the party.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Thomas and  Herlene Elder; mother, Mary “Sue” Elder; father, Hosie Dragg; aunts, Doris and Barbara Elder; uncles, Thomas, Willie James and John Elder; nephew, Tony Elder Jr. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Robert A. Askew; children, Charles and Charnee’ Elder; grandchildren, Charles and Shariah Elder and Cailyn Elder; brother Tony Elder; nieces, Diamond LaKay Jenkins and Taliyah Elder; nephews; Fredrick Darrell Elder and Darrion Smith; uncles, Charles and Greg Elder; cousins/ best friends, Stephanie Westfield Blair, Stephanie Chunn, Sonia Matthews Wilson and Jackie Styles; a host of family and friends who loved her dearly. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday, October 26, 2026 at Jarnigan & Son Chapel, located at 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37914 with a service to immediately follow. 

Final arrangements made by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
