Cornell Thompson

Celebrating The Life of Cornell Thompson — aka UNK.

Cornell Thompson was born on August 13, 1951, to Grady and Beatrice Thompson in Ferndale, Michigan. He attended and was educated in Detroit Public Schools. Some of his employment experience included working in tool & die, the meat packing industry, and at Vernors Ginger Ale as a team member.

Cornell was a very easy-going, likeable person, always accepting people just as they were. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Grady and Beatrice Thompson, his wife Diane, brother Grady Thompson Jr., and niece Launa S. Johnson. He married his sweetheart Diane, and they were blessed with one son, Cornell Thompson Jr. and one daughter Katrina Gordon.

He leaves to mourn two sisters: Linda Barnes of Rochester, New York and Veronica Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, Ronald Thompson Bey of Detroit Michigan; his children, Cornell Thompson Jr and Katrina Gordon; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and host of family and friends.

He will best be remembered for his mild manners and his love and open heart for his family and friends. He loved to laugh and have fun. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by his loved ones. Cornell loved his family, and extended that love beyond those related by blood. To know him was to love him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his love will continue to guide us...
