John Alfred Moulden Sr. departed this life January 15, 2024, at UT Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born December 23, 1952, to the late Johnnie Mae Moulden and Sammie Swaggerty.
He was a graduate of Austin East High School. Upon graduation he went to work for UT Culinary Services. He then went to work for Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he dedicated 30 years of service before retiring. He loved gospel music, playing the piano, traveling, and doting on his grandchildren. He attended Overcoming Believers Church.
He is preceded in death by parents and siblings: Charlene Hill, Tammie Moulden, Karen Moulden, Starlin Moulden, and Ola Bell.
He leaves to cherish his memory ex-wife and best friend Gloria Moulden, children: Tonia (Michael) Mostella, Johnnetta Moulden, John (Krystal) Moulden Jr., siblings: Deborah (Raliegh) Wynn of Surprise, AZ, Fate (Georgezena) Moulden, his beloved grandchildren: Jasmine, Jyrmanie (Savannah), Johnnaven (Shania), Ja’Niyah, Javon, Addison, and Kynleigh, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, to include special friends Glenn “Lefty” Miller, Bonnie Solomon, and devoted caregiver and friend, William Walker.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 12:00pm - 12:30pm at Jarnigan and Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914. A service will immediately follow.
