Christian Deontrey Turman, 23, was born in Knoxville, TN. July 27, 2001. He departed on May 19, 2025.
Christian was a 2019 graduate of West High School where he explored the football team as well as the swim team. However, Christian found his place as a beloved member of the Rebel Marching Band. Christian was loved everywhere he went. Christian’s goal was to make the world a better place. Coworkers from his first job at Chic-fil-A described him as a light that made every day brighter. Christian continued to work at Greek Squad, Hooters, and Walgreens. As a problem-solving diligent worker, He made every job opportunity an exceptional situation for others. Christian took courses to increase his knowledge in technology and always looked for ways to help others. This led Christian to become a certified pharmacy technician and a loved and respected shift lead at Walgreens Pharmacy. Christian was also the Manager of Mental Health World/Autism AWA.
Christian was a man of limitless kindness and compassion for those he loved. The strength of his will was unwavering and he yielded it to care for all those around him.
Christian enjoyed experiencing new things. He enjoyed learning new recipes to cook - his signature dish being Japanese Tonkatsu. He enjoyed feeling and seeing new places. Recently he visited Korea, enjoying the culture he has enjoyed from his youth.
Christian, in all his passion, was a man of few words. He would observe those around him. Christian always took note of what his loved ones liked and needed. He loved laughing and loved making his loved ones laugh. When he said a joke to you, there was always a warmth in his eyes that you could feel. His humor and positive feelings were contagious.
All those who knew Christian, understood how much he loved playing video games. They were his true hobby and passion. He was wildly good at them and would spend hours getting perfect scores on whatever game he was into at the time. His all-time favorite franchise is Kingdom Hearts. He, like Sora the main character in the game was kind, brave, forgiving, and valued friendship. Although Christian has departed from this world, he left behind the comfort in the form of this Kingdom Heart quote: “The heart may be weak and sometimes it may even give in. But I’ve learned that deep down, there’s always a light that never goes out”.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Pastor Diane Elizabeth Downs-Evans.
He is survived by mother, Deonna Evans (Michael Gallman), sisters, Shaonna Littlejohn and Bria Evans; grandfather, Albert Evans; aunts, Sonya Elsberry, Princess Mahone, and Tonya Reese; uncle, Fredrick Downs; cousins, Kenneth Reese, Grace Smith, Latisha Drew (Tia), Kimberly Evans, Larissa Evans, Jennifer Evans, Gary Downs, Kevin Downs, Vyus Downs, Kenyatta McDowell and Essence Evans; and a host of other family and friends to include close friends, Shiawanna Griffin, Nya Griffin-Mooney, Imani Mooney, Ashleigh Harmon, Zavii Scott, Jourden Tyler, Jessica King and Shaun Powell.
Family will receive friends Friday May 30, 2025 from 11am to 12 pm at Overcoming Believer’s Church, 211 Harriet Tubman St, Knoxville, TN 37915. With funeral services to follow.
