Charlie Thomas Jr. was born to the late Charlie Thomas Sr and Caldine Loretta Dragg Thomas on January 4, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He grew up in the Burlington Community. He attended Park Jr High School and later graduated from Austin East High School class of 1975. From a child, he began playing baseball at Cal Johnson Recreation Center and played throughout his high school years at Austin East High School as a 2nd baseman. He was married for 30 years to his now deceased wife, Laura McGhee Thomas. “Pops” as he was affectionately known by his children & grandchildren. He was a Concrete Finisher by trade taught by his father, Charlie Thomas Sr, that began at Wood Brothers Construction Co. He later became an entrepreneur working for himself in a career that continued until 2 days before God called him home.
Charlie was a devoted husband, a good father, brother, grandfather, even great grandfather and friend. He especially loved his yard, “you better not walk through his flowers”. He was devoted to his church of many many years, Wilder Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and a deacon. He was a lovable person, everybody loved Charlie and was very well known in the city. He loved the Parkview & Burlington Communities where he was known to go around visiting friends and the elderly on Sundays after church. He will definitely be missed by family & friends. He had a host of nieces and nephews whom loved Charlie dearly. Gone but never forgotten. We love you reverend Do Wrong.
