Camilla A. (Humphrey), Rodgers born on March 8, 1951, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to J.W. and Geraldine (Harris) Humphrey, passed away on January 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
A proud graduate of Austin East High School, class of 1969, Camilla pursued her passion for helping others through a career in nursing. She graduated from Walter State Community College and dedicated her life to caring for those in need. Camilla was a devoted member of Peace and Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, where she found strength and community in her faith.
Her commitment to service extended beyond her profession; she was a member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. of Upsilon Chi Chapter, (A professional nurses organization)' embracing its motto, “Service for Humanity,” throughout her life.
Camilla was known for her vibrant spirit, enjoying hobbies such as traveling, sewing, baking, and hosting gatherings for family and friends. She created warm memories and lasting connections wherever she went.
Camilla is preceded in death by her beloved parents, J.W. and Geraldine (Harris) Humphrey, as well as her siblings: Clara (Humphrey) Greenlee, Charles Elkins, and Mary Jane Elkins (Missouri). Sisters-in-law: Barbara A. Russell, Lisa Russell, and Nadine Rodgers; her brother-in-law, William “Bill” Russell; and her niece, Cheryl Gardin.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Rodgers, who will forever cherish her memory. Camilla also leaves behind bonus children Latisha and Desmond Gardin, as well as brothers John (Cynthia) Humphrey (California) and Bernard (Debra) Humphrey. Her extended family includes brothers-in-law Donald Russell and Gregory Rodgers, sister-in-law Denise Rogers, Jackie(David) Penny and nieces and nephews: Connie (Larry) Miller, Yvonne Humphrey (Las Vegas), Andrea Douglas, Roy Gardin, Brandon Humphrey (Florida), and Cornell Humphrey (California). Shasta(TC) Gillispie, Shalarya (Yucef) Clark, Greg( Mindy), Scottie , Brittany Rodgers. Orlando( Marquez) Dixson, Ebony Higgins, Kenisha ( Bobby) Jefferson.
In addition to her family, Camilla had many sisters and brothers in Christ, including Regina (Reny) Grey, Renee (Clint) Corey (Georgia), Marie Styles, and her travel buddy, Gail Carter.
She is also mourned by a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her kindness and loving spirit.
Camilla’s Homegoing Celebration will be this Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026 at Peace and Goodwill MBC @ 1723 Washington Avenue 37917, Knoxville TN.
Receiving of friends from 12 - 1pm, with services to immediately follow. (Emeritus Pastor) Rev. John B. Jordan will be rendering the eulogy and Minister Shayla Bullock will officiate. Interment services will follow at MT. OLIVE CEMETERY on Maryville Hwy.
Camilla's compassion, dedication, and love for her family and community will be remembered forever.
